Week 10 posting

The advice I would give someone who was writing his/her first scientific paper is to know a little bit about your topic beforehand. If you start researching blindly you will more than likely get overwhelmed. My citations have vastly improved over this ten weeks and my skills for writing a scientific paper. I still need lots of improvement in the writing field. But I believe practice makes perfect, so I will keep practicing. I enjoyed this class and meeting all of you. Week 9 posting

My paper is finally done, I am so glad that it is over. I have trouble in writing classes. This paper was a struggle for me in many ways. I like writing. I just have trouble coming up with my own ideas. For reason, when I read an article about the topic, my brain just wants me to put down what I have already read, therefore making it plagarized. I do not know of any other topics I would like to research.

Unit 8 Posting

I haven't had any issues throughout the blogging process. I have had blogs in the past just don't remember to update them in order to have one all the time. I love the comments I get. I would love to continue my post after the course, but as I stated I have trouble remembering to post.

Week 7 posting

How was everyone's holidays? Mine was wonderful. I love peer reviews. I have great experiences with them. I am not perfect, so I tend to miss things in my writing.

Unit 6 Posting

Over the course of this class, I have been struggling with managing life and school. I slacked off last term and got behind on my courses and I ended having to repeat one. I have learned from that experience. I am worried that the two weeks we have off for Christmas break that when we return I may slack off some also. In my topic, how prisons deal with mentally ill inmates I have found all the policies but not what actually happens. My husband who works for a prison told me what actually happens with them but since I cannot use him as a reference I cannot use him information. If anybody finds some articles to help me, feel free to share them.

Week 5 Posting

My person writing process is brainstorming, outlining, first draft, review, and final draft. The challenges I face academically are none. Sometimes, my life gets too stressful and it affects my school work but other than that. School influences my priorities in life a lot. I have to prioritize when I can work on my schoolwork since I have a 1 yr old son.

Week four posting

I think that we need to cite our sources, since the information does not belong to us. I know if I wrote a publication and someone used the work without giving me credit, I would be mad. If someone used something I created without giving me credit, I would be mad. I might even sue the person depending on the case. Issues of plagiarism should be handled delicately and sternly. The Internet used to blur the lines of 'legally owned' but now they give credit to the owner. For example, if you watch a music video on YouTube you will see the copyright of the producers.
